Terrible! So gross

This was the worst recipe ever for chocolate chip cookies. Waste of materials it should really be removed from online if I could give it to zero Stars I would.........

This recipe is WILD. My housemates and I wanted to make cookies but got something much more unique than that. These are not cookies–let's make that clear–but these scone-like concoctions are addictive. They're a house favorite for sure.
01/08/2018
Chocolate chip cookies??? Um more like chocolate chip bland bread. Beware
07/31/2018
Do NOT try these. They are a waste of ingredients. So dry and tasteless.
02/08/2019
These definitely cook up more like shortbread, but are easy and tasty. I halved the recipe, went up to a full 1/2 cup on the sugar, added 1/2 tsp of vanilla, and loved it! If you use the peanut butter cookie process of using a fork to make a crisscross on top, they flatten beautifully.
09/10/2018
It was very doughy, I think there was too much flour. I rolled the dough into balls and placed them on the sheet and when I pulled them out, they were still in balls and the bottoms were burnt. I think maybe add less four and more brown sugar with vanilla extract.
02/25/2018
It didn't work, It was too dry so I added water and now won't cook properly
01/22/2017
First time I've ever baked anything. Very easy to follow but no flavor and pretty dry.
12/22/2018
Didn't like them they didn't spread out just became little knots.
09/01/2018
They are thick and taste like shortbread. I love it I love it I love It!
10/10/2019
This made my day! The highlight of my year! I just loved it so much!
08/19/2020
This was a waste of time and ingredients. They were incredibly dry and tasteless.
02/13/2019
Easy to follow, it's what you'd expect with so little ingredients. Definitely a chocolate chip cookie, but a little bland.
03/05/2019
It lacks the required ingredients to make it good.
07/10/2021
Worst choc chip cookie recipe ever. Not enough sugar for the amount of flour, the cookies didn't even melt they stayed in a chunky ball. Needs salt. Do not recommend.
12/23/2020
This recipe did not work. They did not flatten out in the oven, so the outside was burnt and the inside was raw and dry. The taste was bland and not very good.
10/30/2020
Horrible flour tasting flour patties. I had to smash them halfway through and once they were done they tasted like a flour cookie. I wouldn't feed these to my worst enemy.
10/21/2020
It was actually pretty good! I turned them into cookie balls and baked for about 5 minutes longer. Delicious!
07/13/2017
If you aren't looking for a basic quick pantry cookie- just find another recipe. To make this better and still keep 5 ingredients double the sugar and the chocolate chips. or to improve this recipe while keeping it simple add a pinch of salt and some vanilla extract. to lighten the cookies whip the butter and sugar first. recommend smaller cookies baked until crunchy.
09/03/2020
My husband loves cookies and even he can't stomach them! They taste like flour! They didn't flatten out like normal cookies would. Yes simple and easy but barely edible!
03/22/2020
Easy to make, but terrible taste. It needs baking powder or it becomes a brick and doesn't cook well.
04/09/2020
horrible my family didnt not like them at all.
05/23/2020
Inaccurate recipe, the results were horrible, too much flour.
01/25/2018
Ended up really tasty! Loved it!
02/04/2020
I changed the recipe and instead of 2 eggs, did 1 banana (not too ripe but still softish). I also added some vanilla extract because some reviewers said the recipe might taste bland. Everything else I followed exactly and this is how they turned out! They were delicious!! ** I also put the dough in the freezer for about 5 minutes before baking**
03/06/2022
This recipe was ok. I do think that there was too much flour, so people reading the review, if you do the recipe, and a a little bit less flour.
07/20/2020
To much flour maybe 2 to 2.5 at the max. it was cookie crumble not cookie dough and needed more butter after the flour Don't recommend this recipe
05/18/2020
This recipe was delicious! My friend and I are making a bake sail for my neighborhood. Instead if 1 cup of chocolate chips, I did 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of rainbow sprinkles! Adding the sprinkles makes it taste super good!
01/19/2022
It was too much flour and they were not good at all. When they were done they were still balls. the flavour is just gross and tastes like way to much flour. If I were you i would do less flour and add some vanilla extract!
12/21/2020
Very gross recipe. You can taste the flour with chocolate. No Thank you!!!!!
11/22/2020
yes they needed more chips
08/07/2022
It was cool! and yummy
06/07/2016
Dry.
01/23/2016
Super easy and delicious. Of course, I added a bit of cinnamon/nutmeg to spice things up
06/21/2019
It would be more filling if there was oatmeal in them. Just a suggestion! Otherwise they are great!
01/19/2020
The rating for the recipe is a 2.. For the add-ons I placed it made it a 4... Note these cookies don't leave the shape of how you made them!!! So the recipe is dry and bland. I doubled the batch and added another cup of sugar as well as 2 tps of vanilla extract. I set aside my left over chocolate chips and melted them. Once the cookies where done I ended up dunking the cookies into the chocolate completely coating them and setting them solidify again. It most definitely saved the cookie from it's blandess and also gave it a delicious taste. Heck of a recovery.
09/01/2019
I don't agree that this recipe makes a tasteless cookie! It is simple and not over-sweet, which I like because it highlights the chocolate chips---or any other add you want to make. This is a basic recipe---so you can embellish it anyway you like..add more sugar, use really dark sugar instead of brown sugar, add vanilla or nuts or coconut or cherries...the dough's simplicity will make the star of the show what you add, rather then over powering the fruit or nuts or whatever.
11/29/2018
Did not care for these at all. Wanted to make these for my family because it's a wonderful day out- perfect for cooking. I'm out of chocolate chips and this killed my mood. 0/10 would recommend.
08/14/2019
easy to make, but didn't come out good, too floury
05/22/2019
I will definitely make this again for the butter so it's not so dry and clumpy make sure u melt the butter before adding it into the batter it made it a lot easier to mix. Thx for this awesome recipe
10/14/2020
Something is missing with these chocolate chip cookies, tasted more like snowball cookies with chocolate chips.
08/13/2022
Not cookies at all and did not taste good. Waste of time and ingredients
06/03/2022
No baking powder came out hard and not tasty
08/10/2020
I tried to save them after the first batch but they didn't work. So annoyed that I wasted the time and effort to make these.
08/26/2020
i made this with my son in 5 minutes, and it took longer to bake but we think these cookies are delicious. He loves them!
10/12/2015
Seemed like the recipe was missing something. There wasn't much flavour to the cookie and it was a little crunchy. But they were okay...
02/06/2022
Terrible and bland
09/29/2015
This was an okay recipe. Very easy to make with a few ingredients that are usually on hand. I felt they lacked the flavor that most chocolate chip cookies have. Without a leavening agent they were only as thick as you make them; they were kind of dense. Overall, these wouldn't be at the top of my list, but were quick and easy enough that I would use them again in a pinch.
01/17/2022
Followed the recipe but added pecans - first batch out of the oven had to be tossed out unfortunately. Added salt to the dough, and it made the rest of the cookies much tastier! If I had to recommend something to change, I would definitely recommend adding salt and white sugar to your dough!
07/29/2022
This is the worst. Just wasted ingredients on this.
05/21/2020
I have to leave a star. otherwise this will get no star from me. smh this was so bad. the essentials needed to bake a cookie is MIA. i should have known that it would be bad because the batter tasted awful. never ever again.
10/28/2019
The spooning onto the baking sheet part meant they came out ugly, so next time I'll try rolling them. My son devoured two before they'd even fully cooled so I'm guessing that means they turned out okay other than the shape.
09/11/2020
Added a good amount of salt, big spoonful of honey & a lil bit of oil. A little white sugar and extra chocolate chips. Put them on the tray in spoonfuls and flattened them a bit with back of spoon. 15 min @ 325 F -- Turned out really tasty :) good measurements and omitted the need for baking soda or powder! Not a classic cookie taste but a good craving fix
10/11/2021
Not a very good cc cookie recipe
09/24/2021
Omg these are horrible!!! They def have the shortbread taste to it I even added vanilla to give it a lil flavor and that really didnt give it a much boost. Dont make these unless u know how to tweak these to be cookies.
10/08/2021
This is a horrible recipe I even tried adding vanilla and more sugar. Nothing can help this recipe taste better. Complete waste of ingredients!!!
03/16/2021
I don't understand how this recipe got any good reviews. There must have been a mistake in the ingredients. I double-checked my amounts, and I did use correct measurements, but it was so dry and powdery I would not have been able to use it. I looked up other recipes and added more soft butter, sugar, vanilla and water to make it useable. I ended up with edible, but not good, cookies.
09/27/2021
i was so let down by the end results, they were bland and tasted like dough
06/07/2021
These are not cookies. They are more like a scone with choc chips threw them. However they are easy to make and after reading the recipe and starting to make them I realised there was way to much flour so I cut our half a cup. So my advice would be to put less flour then it says and expect more of a scone cookie.
02/27/2021
Don't waste your time or ingredients!!! So disappointed. My kids won't even eat them! Flavorless, don't bake right. just awful. Really mad at myself right now for taking a chance on this recipe.
10/14/2020
Like some of the other reviews said, these aren't "cookies". Much more scone-like. They're good scones, but not what I was going for in the moment. I think there are too many try ingredients for 2 eggs and a cup of butter to properly soften to cookie-dough consistency.
01/19/2022
This recipe looks amazing. I haven't tried them yet, they're in the oven and I added a tiny bit of vanilla extract and didn't add the chocolate chips but I'm sure they'll turn out the same
01/19/2020
Ratio of flour was too much. Tasted like cardboard with chocolate chips. Disappointed.
04/26/2016
Need to add the yield
05/26/2020
hmm they are ok i guess they took way more than 20 minutes not the best cookies ever though but they are better then so many cookie recipes i've found on this so yeah
02/18/2019
Taste more flour. Not much flavor at all. Very dry.
11/09/2019
I added 1 1/2 cup chips. They didn't need to cook as long , cut cook time by 2 to 3 mins
03/01/2016
Mine turned out really dry and somewhat tasteless. I have much better recipes that I can use. Thanks but will pass on making this one again.
05/24/2020
Its good
11/12/2019
Easy dessert for a broke college student who wants to stress-bake but doesn't have the time or money to go out and buy ingredients just for cookies.
02/13/2022
I was so focused on making choc chip cookies, I jumped at the allure of a 5 ingredient recipe. I wish I would have read the reviews first. After mixing everything together and seeing how dense and dry it was, I checked the reviews to see who had a fix for it. I ended up adding 1 egg white and a teaspoon of vanilla extract and it helped somewhat. Baked the cookies for the full 15 minutes and they came out ok. Still dense, but the flavor wasn't bad. Just not the chocolate cookies we were craving. Lesson learned...always check the reviews first!
03/16/2022
I think that the recipe was amazing I will make it again that is why it is so good but i think to put is on for like 10 - 15 mins
08/31/2020
I followed the recipe but it was too dry.
05/12/2020
Worst recipe; waste of time and good ingredients! Very dry & tasteless!
04/04/2020
First and foremost, if you're looking for a great cookie recipe, this is not it. Too much flour, and it could possibly use more butter. "It's a chocolatey Biscuit." In all, it's not something I would make again.
02/24/2019
IF I COULD GET AWAY WITHOUT ANY STARS IT WOULDN'T HAVE ANY..... This recipe sucks I know what to call these things it made but they sure ain't no chocolate chip cookies and are so gross even after trying to doctor the recipe they still won't come out like a chocolate chip cookie is suppose to. Uckkkk Is there any that do you out right that are pretty basic and quick without all the usual ingredients?
05/11/2017
5 stars for fast, simple/easy, and a great base/leaves room to get creative. I use all organic ingredients. Know that the cookies don't flatten out at all. Also, I love dunking my cookies and these were perfect for that. You can substitute anything you want in them, too. I always add tooons of chocolate (I just chop up a dark choc bar), my husband likes peanut butter cups, my grandma likes walnuts, raisins, and spice.
10/30/2019
I just dump evrything into a bowl and mix. Even my Dad likes it.
11/05/2018
These cookies were dry and floury they need more butter and or eggs.
10/26/2020
Horrible. My 9-year-old found the recipe and wanted to try it. They didn't even melt while cooking. Just stayed a round mound. Three-quarters way through the bake I finally smashed them with a spoon. We should have read the reviews first. Save your ingredients for a better recipe.
